2022 Outstanding Graduate Student Award

Doctoral Level

Daniel Reinhard will graduate this spring and is currently serving as the chief data analyst for the Boulder Police Department in Colorado. His dissertation is titled "A Varied Spatial and Temporal Examination of Vacation Home Rentals and Crime," and he specializes in geographic criminology, and homelessness, but enjoys publishing in a wide variety of studies. His work has appeared in The Western Criminologist, the Journal of Interpersonal Violence, The Police Journal: Theory, Practice and Principles, Crime Prevention and Community Service, and the Journal of Criminal Justice Education.

Master's Level

Kayra Tasci graduated with a B.S. in Agriculture from Texas State University in May 2021. Working under Dr. Merritt Drewery, her thesis research is evaluating defatted black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) as an alternative protein source for beef cattle. She has published two peer-reviewed manuscripts in the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Journal regarding how Covid-19 impacted teaching agricultural sciences at the post-secondary level. Upon completing her master's degree, she plans to pursue a PhD in ruminant nutrition or a related field to have a career conducting research and teaching ruminant nutrition at the university level.
